The research team has received financial support from the CSBE to carry out the environmental scan included in this report.
The report Data collection systems integrating PROMs and PREMs to support value-based decision-making examines patient-reported data. Patient-reported data inform about their perception of their health status (patient-reported outcomes - PROs) and their care experience (patient-reported experience - PREs). These indicators allow for the evaluation and improvement of the quality of care.
The objective of this report is to describe existing data collection systems that integrate patient-reported data to support a transformation towards value-based healthcare (VBHC) system. The report includes:
- an environmental scan including interviews with international key informants;
- a scoping review guided by the methodology of the Joanna Briggs Institute;
- a deductive and inductive analysis of the results of both data sources using the conceptual frameworks of the Canadian Institute for Health Information and of Franklin et al. (2017).
This report highlights strategic insights, tactical considerations prior to implementation, tactical considerations for implementation and tactical considerations to support the use and evaluation.
